An inspired work environment was the goal for Rebuild Group, who salvaged an abandoned building in the Detroit Milwaukee Junction neighborhood to relocate its headquarters. The interior space combines the original exposed brick walls and concrete ceiling with sleek new windows, repurposes vintage freight elevator doors as both a wall partition and a center island for employees to gather, and uses modern fabrics and paint to contrast the outdated design. Private office spaces uniquely partitioned from the open areas by glass barn doors appointed with contemporary hardware. Bright teal and orange accents are complimented by embossed paisley black wallcovering, a beautiful mural that pays homage to Detroit’s rich music history and upholstery created from a skateboard collage. The floating-work model, complete with both a beer tap and traditional coffee service areas, a pet friendly community, and an upbeat interior, caters to the employees and a creative environment.
